Bettina Cousineau makes mixed media drawings.

Cousineau writes: "I am interested in the inner world and outer experience.

I want to move freely between the two states and match the landscape I carry with me with the one I’m physically in; but I’m a first generation American, and family stories create a sense of dislocation. When I reach for a solid external experience, I often feel disoriented.
With every drawing, I intentionally relearn how to draw. There’s a moment of discovery when feeling and drawing become one, and the inner and outer can finally combine.
I draw a place that could happen and is happening and did happen: the past, present and future are all available simultaneously. What I draw becomes a series of fabrications, and my experience becomes a fairytale.
